Dear girls,

We're heading to Calton View Cafe for an evening of watercolour painting with Carmela, an Argentinian illustrator based here in Edinburgh. Her work is inspired by Japanese art, Scottish nature and folklore, and her own Latin heritage, and that mix of influences really comes through in everything she creates. She's warm, she's talented, and she builds the kind of atmosphere where you forget you were ever nervous about trying something new.

The theme for the evening is Studio Ghibli, so expect soft colours, magical details, and something that'll look beautiful on your wall. Carmela provides pre-traced templates for every design, so if you've never picked up a paintbrush before, you're in exactly the right place.

Her workshops are calm and unhurried. She'll take you through the basics first, then you paint at your own pace while she moves around the room to help and chat. All materials are included and you'll go home with a finished painting and a little technique guide to keep.
